Cash-back withdrawal service is still available at few retail chains
Two months have passed since the legislation governing the introduction of the cash-back cash withdrawal service officially entered into force. It’s time for a little assessment.
Pursuant to the new decree, customers can withdraw cash from store cash registers twice a month, up to a total of HUF 40,000. However, not all chains in the FMCG sector responded immediately to this opportunity. THE
Penny already introduced this service in 2017 and it is now available in all their stores.
“Over the past two months, we have seen an increase in interest in in-store cash withdrawals. However, due to limited bank acceptance at the moment, customers who wish to take advantage of this option are unable to use the cashback function more widely”
– said Eszter Kazatsay, head of communications at PENNY in Hungary, to Pénzcentrum.
But what about the other big chains?
Lidl has still not introduced the cash-back service in its stores. Aldi is still investigating the options and there is no concrete decision on the rollout. And Tesco is constantly working on the introduction of the service, and towards the end of the year we can expect significant progress from them.
In the past two months, we have seen that customers are happy to use the cash-back option to make shopping even more convenient.
