Shopping malls still most popular in Budapest
According to KSH data for 2005, the concentration of retail trade into large stores has continued. Shopping malls and hyper markets accounted for 30 per cent of overall retail sales in Budapest, whereas this figure was 18 per cent for other regions. 75 per cent of total turnover generated by shopping malls was recorded in Budapest and only 25 per cent in other locations. Of the total sales generated by hyper markets, only 21 per cent was recorded in Budapest, 23 per cent in Pest County, and 56 per cent in other regions.
