As in the case of all foods, it is worth giving priority to domestically produced eggs
There is still no shortage of eggs, and despite the increase in price, it is still one of the cheapest of the basic foods – emphasized the Association of Hungarian Egg Hybrid Breeders and Egg Producers (Hungarian Egg Association) in a statement sent to MTI on Wednesday.

As in the case of all foods, it is worth giving priority to domestically produced eggs
They pointed out that egg producers were forced to raise prices due to the unfavorable economic environment and drought damage.
Based on statistical data, the consumer price of eggs increased by 37-39 percent this year, i.e. by almost exactly the same amount as the price of electricity and gas, as well as feed raw materials
– they added.
According to the association’s data, 780 million eggs came from large-scale production by the end of August, 7 percent less than in the same period last year. The reason for the decline was primarily the decrease in population caused by the bird flu epidemic.
According to their forecast, large-scale production may increase to 1.1-1.2 billion units by the end of the year, which covers 50-52 percent of domestic consumption. Almost another 600 million eggs from backyard farmers and 480-500 million from imports are sold in Hungary every year.
