Milk chocolate candy is still the most popular
About 8 million chocolate Santas are sold in Hungary every year, according to the latest overview of the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy. Filled with candy, two-layered, two-flavored, sugar-free – there is a wide range, but the classic milk chocolate is still the most popular.
According to the Association of Hungarian Confectionery Manufacturers, nearly 250 enterprises in Hungary deal with confectionary production. The popularity of the “hollow chocolate” Santa Claus figure associated with the Advent season is unbroken among customers year after year, and nearly eight million pieces of this product are sold annually on the domestic market.
During the Advent period, parlor sugar, hollow figures and the Advent calendar are the most popular sweets. Chocolate cookies belong to the category of hollow shaped chocolates, as do, for example, the chocolate bunnies that are popular at Easter. According to experience, both multinational and Hungarian-owned manufacturers find their way into the market of seasonal sweets, even smaller producers can sell significant items at this time.
