Hungarian sunflowers would break out of the shadow of maize even more
In 20 years, sunflowers have become a success crop of Hungarian agriculture. Once classified as a “shadow of maize, they still ran”, the oil plant has become the third most important arable crop with more than 600,000 hectares of arable land. However, while the rival countries achieve yields of 1.5-2 tons per hectare, Hungarian farmers can already boast a world record of 3.01 tons.
