EU egg and egg product imports increased by one and a half times
According to the currently available data from the European Commission, the EU’s (EU27) egg and egg product imports increased by 52 percent to almost 170 thousand tonnes in the first eleven months of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. Three quarters of the imports came from Ukraine and the United Kingdom. A total of 49 percent (125 thousand tonnes) more eggs and egg products arrived from the two countries than a year earlier.
The community’s egg and egg product exports decreased by 2 percent to 327 thousand tonnes in January-November 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. The largest target countries of the union continued to be: the United Kingdom (40 percent share of exports), Japan (17 percent) and Switzerland (13 percent), which together purchased 229 thousand tonnes of eggs and egg products from the community in the first eleven months of 2025. Exports to the United Kingdom and Japan both fell by 3 percent, while exports to Switzerland increased by the same amount over the period under review. According to European Commission data, the EU’s packing house price of table eggs was €292/100 kilograms in the first eleven weeks of 2026, up 17 percent from the same period the previous year.
