Even on Svalbard, everything is full of plastic
According to experts, the fact that plastic breaks down into particles over time and accumulates everywhere in nature is a huge danger. Even in Svalbard, everything is full of plastic, even in those areas where people almost never visit.
“It can also be found on glaciers and sea ice. We wonder if it can also be detected in lakes and rivers. We find these particles in the most remote places of the world, while people don’t even go there. And that worries me.”
– says geologist Jim Boonman in a recent Euronews short film on the subject.
