METRO Wines of the Year are already available in stores
Every year METRO names a selection of excellent white, red and rosé wines ‘Wine of the Year’, which is exclusively available in METRO stores. For the first time METRO’s international team of experts decided that a Portuguese wine selection, Vinhas de Murça offers the best value for money. In Hungary METRO followed suit by selecting the Hungarian Wine of the Year: Triangulum wines from Mészáros Pál Wine House in the Szekszárd region – informed Károly Gerendai, wine expert of METRO Magyarország.
When traditions and high-tech meet: Vinhas De Murça
Portuguese winery Quinta de Porrais makes Vinhas de Murça wines in the historical wine region of the Douro Valley. Grapes are hand-picked and taken to the winery in cases, where the best grapes are carefully selected from each 20kg batch before processing them in the state-of-the-art winery. Vinhas de Murça wines are cuvées made of grape varieties characteristic of the region.
A harmonious trio: Triangulum
Mészáros Pál Wine House and Cellar is a 120-year-old family winery in the Szekszárd wine region. Wines in their Triangulum selection: a white cuvée of Irsai Olivér and Chardonnay grapes, a rosé made of Blaufrankisch, Pinot Noir and Syrah grape varieties, and a red wine that combines Malbec and Cabernet Franc grapes.
