Magazine: Most of the wiener was sold in discount stores
Last year we bought wiener fewer times – reports GfK Hungária’s Consumer Scan – which means that the market contracted a bit despite its stable circle of buyers. In the first seven months of 2011 eight out of ten households bought wiener.
More wiener buyers turned up in supermarkets and discount stores and fewer of them visited hypermarkets. In the examined period the average price of wiener was HUF 774/kg in discount stores – 16 percent lower than the domestic market average. In the discount stores even shopping frequency increased. In January-July 2011 we purchased 27kg from every 100kg of wiener in discount stores, making this retail channel the number one in volume sales, followed by hypermarkets, small shops, supermarkets and butcher shops.
