Mineral water over HUF 44 billion
Sales of mineral water grew by 10 per cent in 2007 in terms of quantity, approaching 900 million litres. Sales increased by 14 per cent in terms of value and exceed HUF 44 billion. 1.5 litre bottles account for the largest part of overall sales, with a market share of 80 per cent. The sales of 2 litre bottles are growing. Private labels held a market share of 40-43 per cent in terms of quantity in the March 2007-February 2008 period. The carbonated segment is the most popular one, where average price was up by HUF 2 per litre. Sales are remarkably concentrated in modern stores, where 76 per cent of the total quantity is sold. The flavoured segment is producing noticeable growth, with sales more than doubling in 2007. Lemon is the most popular flavour, accounting for 38 per cent of the segment.
