Manker Beauty: GVH waives the fine if the company fulfills its obligations
The Economic Competition Authority (GVH) has completed the investigation of Manker Beauty Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft., which was initiated due to the company’s suspicion of unfair commercial practices. The company, which belongs to Tibi Kasza, cooperated with the authority and undertook to compensate the consumers affected by the violation. In June 2022, GVH launched its proceedings against Manker Beauty, which mainly deals in the sale of dietary supplements. The investigation focused on whether the company violated the prohibition of unfair commercial practices towards consumers. During the investigation, the company modified its previous communication practices and admitted the violation.
Manker Beauty has agreed to compensate consumers who purchased the affected products between July 15, 2021 and August 5, 2022. The amount of compensation will be HUF 1,000 per person. The conditions for payments are that consumers contacted by the company by electronic mail respond and provide their bank account numbers.
GVH’s Competition Council, taking into account the company’s cooperation and the level of compensation, decided to waive the imposition of a fine if Manker Beauty accurately implements the agreed compensation. The national competition authority will check the fulfillment of the obligations in the framework of a follow-up investigation.
Manker Beauty Kft. joined the Self-Regulatory Advertising Board and committed itself to carry out its future communication and commercial activities with the involvement of experts. The move is part of the company’s compliance program, which aims to prevent future violations and ensure fair market practices.
