It will be decided in the second half of May whether the margin reduction will remain in place
When the government introduced the margin reduction, it decided to maintain it until May 31, so we will evaluate and decide in the second half of May whether to continue the margin reduction – the parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation said in the Tuesday morning program of the M1 current affairs channel.

Zsigó Róbert
Róbert Zsigó said: they see that it may be worthwhile to continue, because families and the elderly can access food cheaper. At the same time, he emphasized that there has been no decision on the issue yet.
The state secretary pointed out that with the margin reduction introduced six weeks ago – according to the latest data – the price of 890 foods has become lower, including 264 foods whose price has decreased by more than 30 percent, while the average price decrease is 18.7 percent.
He indicated that government agencies have conducted 622 inspections so far, but they will continue to monitor to ensure that they can protect Hungarian families from excessive and unjustified price increases.
Róbert Zsigó pointed out that there is a close connection between margin reduction and family subsidies, as they do not allow excessive and unjustified price increases to take money away from families, which they use for raising children, for example.
He mentioned that on Tuesday, parliament could decide on expanding the personal income tax exemption for mothers under 30, introducing the personal income tax exemption for mothers with three children, and also on the personal income tax exemption for mothers with two children to be gradually introduced from January 1.
He said: the agenda also includes the introduction of the Csed, the tax exemption of the adoption fee, and the Csed extra, which allows mothers to take up work after their child is 3 months old while keeping 70 percent of the benefit.
Róbert Zsigó also spoke on Kossuth Radio’s Jó regelgt, Magyarország! program about negotiations with banks on reducing banking service fees and telecommunications companies on reducing telecommunications fees, which voluntarily agreed not to increase prices until the summer of 2026, and where there was an increase, the price would be returned to the level of January 1st.
