The 44th National Wine Competition opens on May 13 – Minister of Agriculture Dr. István Nagy to serve as Patron-in-Chief
The National Council of Wine Communities (HNT) will host the 44th National Wine Competition’s ceremonial opening on May 13, 2025, at the Danubius Hotel Helia in Budapest. As Hungary’s most prestigious wine competition for producers, the event also serves as a major professional platform for evaluating and promoting quality in the domestic wine sector.
The opening ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM in the hotel’s Helia Room, with registration starting at 9:00 AM. A standing reception will follow the official program.
The Patron-in-Chief of the event is Dr. István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, while the event patrons include Dr. Zsolt Nyitrai, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister, and Pál Rókusfalvy, Government Commissioner for National Wine Marketing.
Organized annually by the HNT, the competition is more than a showcase of excellence: its three-tiered evaluation system provides producers with valuable feedback on their wines, helping guide future quality improvements. The event also offers a professional snapshot of current trends in the Hungarian wine market.
