A gap-filling adult training program launched with Hungarian and Serbian cooperation and EU support offers practical solutions to the most pressing challenges of the food industry – digitalization, sustainability and health awareness – the Public Relations Directorate of the University of Szeged (SZTE) informed MTI on Wednesday.

The project, with a budget of 216 thousand euros (83.4 million forints), is being implemented in partnership by the Csongrád-Csanád Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the University of Novi Sad in close professional cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering of the SZTE, which plays a key role in in curriculum development, professional preparation and implementation of educational programs.

Szabó P. Balázs, Deputy Dean for Innovation and Development of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Székesfehérvár, stated that the fundamental mission of the Feeding the Future! program is to equip professionals in the sector with complex and practical knowledge, adapted to the challenges of the modern food industry. The central element of the training is sustainability, which encourages participants to develop circular food systems and to acquire a systems-based mindset.

The 80-hour, complex training program will take place between February and May. The curriculum covers soft skills, digital food systems, modern tools for SMEs and health-conscious nutrition in four theoretical modules. The theoretical knowledge is complemented by 16 hours of practical training, during which participants can learn about the most modern technologies at four domestic locations and during factory visits. The education focuses on digitalization, and by using modern data management tools, professionals are enabled to make data-driven decisions and increase business efficiency.

An important element of the program is health-conscious product development, recognition of special dietary trends and rapid market response. In order to improve competitiveness, participants are also helped in effective brand communication and professional business relationship building.

The training offers development opportunities for players in the HoReCa sector, as well as food industry experts and engineers looking for innovative solutions, the announcement says.
