Hungarian Food Bank Association: 100 kilos of food is thrown out per household per year
In Hungary an average of 100 kilogrammes of food is thrown out each year per household – the president of the Hungarian Food Bank Association told M1 news channel on Sunday.
Cseh Balázs told that a total of 1.8 million tons of food products are thrown out every year in Hungary, of which 400 thousand tons is household food waste. According to the expert, this high amount of food waste could be decreased by making shopping lists for example, or using the remaining ingredients and raw materials during cooking, and with the freezing the raw materials and the ready-made meals.
