The key to the future is in the hands of Hungarian students: the 5th season of Solutions for Tomorrow starts with new momentum
The fifth edition of the joint creative problem-solving initiative of Samsung and EdisonKids, Solve for Tomorrow, is underway, in which future-building student teams provide exciting answers to the fundamental questions of our tomorrow season after season. Recruitment has begun, and the renewed program provides its applicants, students in grades 7-12 and their teachers, with more useful and exciting opportunities than ever before to make the world a better place with their revolutionary ideas. The winners of the competition can get valuable Samsung devices, worth a total of 6 million forints.
The Solve for Tomorrow 2025 challenge mobilizes young people interested in science and technology on the themes of Community, Health and Sustainable Future. One of the pillars of the competition is Samsung’s international Solve for Tomorrow program, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, all with the momentum of redesign. Accordingly, this year’s five-year Hungarian challenge also awaits applicants with renewed categories, content, training, and new professional participants, who can acquire the modern, future-proof tools of design thinking during the program, develop their personal skills, and become members of an inspiring, supportive community. As in every season, the program places great emphasis on teachers and their development opportunities: this includes stress management and its methodology, which is new this year.
This year, between January 16 and February 17, idea creators in grades 7-12 can enter in teams of 2-6 people with a two-minute introductory video, in which they present their problem statement and proposed solution in the topic of their choice. This initiative, which is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year, celebrates innovative ideas, whether it be classic offline projects or modern, digital-based applications. The jury will judge the videos of the application period based on creativity, critical thinking and soundness, and this year, social responsibility, communication and team cooperation may also be guiding criteria in the decisions.
Young people applying in the Community category are specifically invited to lend a helping hand to individuals or groups who are struggling with some kind of difficulty or are experiencing exclusion. The Health theme is looking for ideas that support the preservation of physical, mental and spiritual health, the widespread spread of stress management methods, or, for example, the digitalization of healthcare processes. The focus may be on improving the conditions of healthcare workers and patients, or even protecting human dignity in difficult situations. Students applying in the Sustainable Future category can look to the 17 goals for a sustainable future defined by the UN as a compass. This topic also offers numerous opportunities to raise issues, from sustainable cities to gender equality, from the issue of quality education and jobs to biodiversity or even sustainable production and consumption.
