Hungarian Bocuse Academy
It was quite a surprise to many people when the deed of foundation of the Hungarian Bocuse Academy was signed by Paul Bocuse during the competition held in Lyon. – Preparations had been on the way for a long time but negotiations turned successful after the competition held in Norway – says Vilmos Kreil, one of the bet known Bocuse d’Or experts in Hungary. As a result of this decision, it has become the exclusive competence of the Academy to organise Bocuse d’Or competitions in Hungary. The founding meeting of the Academy was attended by Kálmán Kalla, Tamás T. Nagy, Dénes Sándor, István Pető, Endre Tóth and János Pataki among others. For them, participation in the competition is not an end but a means of helping Hungarian chefs is getting recognition. The Academy is open to everybody who wants to work for the common good. However, the Academy will not automatically generate Michelin stars in Hungary. In February, one of the first events organised by the Academy took place. Several demonstrations were held by Paco Roncero, who is one of the leading representatives of contemporary Spanish cuisine.
