Last year, slightly above the national average, the loan portfolio of enterprises related to agriculture and the food industry grew by 11 percent in Hungary, and in the member banks of Magyar Bankholding by an even higher proportion, by more than 14 percent, the banking group told MTI on Wednesday.

Loans and deposits in the agricultural sector grew above average in 2021

As has been written, the main reason for the expansion was the significant rise in the price of crops last year, which is why the deposit stock of agricultural companies also jumped.

Budapest Bank, MKB Bank and Takarékbank expect that if the Russian-Ukrainian tensions do not ease until the harvest, grain prices will remain close to record levels on the global and domestic markets. (MTI)
