Magazine: World-class sunflower oil production in the Kiskunság region
Hungary is one of the world’s biggest sunflower seed producers. In its Kiskunfélegyháza factory, refined sunflower oil maker NT Kft. started using a new production line early November. With a HUF 1.2-billion investment, the company managed to increase its production capacity considerably and reduced its environmental impact as well. At the opening ceremony NT Kft.’s CEO Milan Kuncíř told: in just two years the company increased its production capacity by 40 percent. What is more, recently NT Kft. entered the Italian and Chinese markets with its products. In the Hungarian market they successfully introduced the Kunsági Éden Szuper refined sunflower oil, sales of which are increasing dynamically.
Mr Kuncíř stressed that without the support of the company’s owner, Agrofert a.s., these results would have been impossible to achieve. The CEO added that at the moment they are developing products with the taste and consumption habits of consumers in Hungary and the neighbouring countries in mind. NT Kft.’s two flagship products are Kunsági Éden and Kunsági Éden Szuper cooking oils. Products are available in 1-, 2-, 5- and 10-litre versions, while in overseas markets they are sold in 0.9- and 1.8-litre format.
Thanks to the efficiency of the new, modern bottling line, less plastic is needed to produce the safe and stylish packaging of sunflower oils. Sustainable development is a key principle of the company and Mr Kuncíř told that more than 90 percent of the energy they use in production comes from burning the hull of the sunflower seeds. What is more, they sell sunflower meal to the best animal feed manufacturers – their best quality granulated sunflower meal has 40-percent protein content, and thanks to its format it can be transported more economically.
