Magazine: Always aiming higher!
Hilltop Neszmély Zrt. adapts to changing market demand very well. The winery is always leading the way in innovation and we asked co-owner Ákos Kamocsay about the secret behind their success. His answer was simple: there is no secret, they simply make quality wine in large quantities. Both the market and the wine making trade recognise the quality of Hilltop products – consumers keep buying their products and wines always come home with medals from competitions. Hilltop Neszmély always keeps an eye on market trends and adopt ideas that are likely to be successful. Being present in the British market – which is 4-5 years ahead of us – is a great help in this respect. Recently they have implemented several technological development projects, e.g. grapes are now pressed in a closed system. Products got a new design and after 15 years the company switched to a new distributor in the UK, and the new one has really strong positions in the Horeca sector – this is really good news for the company’s premium wines. Hilltop’s private label products are present in the stores of more and more retail chains. After the regular two-digit sales growth of recent years 2016 will only bring one-digit growth. Hilltop sales are stable, while sales of the Kamocsay brand doubled in the first eight months of 2015. Plans include putting new Kamocsay wines on the market: thanks to using modern technology, Hilltop Neszmély can make premium quality wines from the new grape varieties too.
