Magazine: Food in photos
National Geographic and FAO decided to team up within the framework of the ‘The Future of FOOD’ programme, in order to raise awareness of food and agriculture issues in a fashion that is interesting to readers: photo reports. The reports will have a global perspective so they won’t focus on regional issues, which means that no Hungary-specific problems will be featured. However, it can happen that photos related to Hungary will appear in some of the reports. Some of the photos were exhibited in Budapest at the end of October, and they can also be seen on the official The Future of FOOD website. The big question is: Will planet Earth be able to feed 9 billion people in 2030? Vladimir Rakhmanin, assistant director-general of FAO reckons that there is growing public interest in food and related issues. This is a positive trend because there are serious challenges ahead of us in this domain. Minister of Agriculture Dr Sándor Fazekas praised the work FAO does to improve global food safety. Gary E. Knell, president and CEO of the National Geographic Society told that they wish to start a dialogue with readers through the project. Food and eating is a topic that is interesting to everyone, therefore it is important to dig deep and make people understand the challenges and the possible solutions to problems.
