Magazine: The art of table setting
t is a world trend that tableware manufacturers cooperate with famous chefs to freshen up their portfolio. In Hungary designers and chefs are just starting to work together in designing and manufacturing various tableware items. According to Edit Kondor, professor of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Hungarian designers can’t really connect to the culinary world. She found a partner though, István Pesti, the chef of Tanti helps her when she teaches related courses at the university – like she did this spring, when she started a one-semester tableware design course. The works of two of Ms Kondor’s students are already being used in the high-prestige restaurant, Tanti. Edit Kondor started a positive trend and now top Budapest restaurants such as Costes or Le Perle Noir are becoming interested in the projects.
