Magazine: Our own abbey beer

Brewing company Zirc Abbey Manufacture Kft. was established in March 2015. The brewing masters aren’t monks but laic experts of the trade. Sales and marketing managers come from the Heineken Hungária team. In size and operating concept the enterprise is a transition between large and small breweries, and this manifests in product types too. Head of sales Gabriella Karnis told our magazine that they want to take buyers away from the well-known and popular premium products of large breweries. The manufacture’s goal is to make the high-quality beers of small Hungarian breweries an integral part of our culinary culture. She thinks perhaps it is time for bottom-fermented beers to make a comeback in Hungary.
