In the shadow of the football World Cup
One is sitting with the remote control in their hands watching the games, and their thoughts are wandering…Hungarian football is far from World Cup level and certain signs indicate that the food industry is in a similar situation. For instance our dairy sector has just seen Danone taking away its production facilities and Friesland’s Debrecen factory is about to close as well. Make no mistake, their products will stay in the market but they will be manufactured somewhere else. Hungary’s food industry has lost yet another battle and it continues like this, it will also lose the war – just like Hungary’s football seems to have done. To make things worse, there is a dumping of imported dairy products, processing companies are suffering to sell, producers are about to demonstrate, and in 2015 milk quotas will be lifted…
