According to Dr Christian Göke, the CEO of Fruit Logistica organiser Messe Berlin GmbH, this year the trade fair broke many records. This year the special guest was Portugal who had a 600m² area to introduce itself. Most countries filled a pavilion with their own exhibitors. Hungary came with a collective stand, in the organisation of Hungarian Tourism Zrt., where 10 Hungarian businesses presented what they have to offer to the world. Hungarian sour cherry producers had their own stand for the first time. Seventy Hungarian apricot growers also had their own stand, courtesy of an international group that is present in several European countries. Ferenc Ledó, the president of FruitVeb told that the majority of Hungary’s fruit and vegetable export deals is realised during the three days of Fruit Logistica. Hungary exports 50 percent of its fruit and vegetable production and about one quarter of this ends up in Germany. This year 10 products have been nominated for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award. The winner turned out to be ‘Aurora’ seedless papaya from Israel. The runner-up was ‘Lemoncherry’ from Belgium, sweet tasting tomatoes with a distinctive lemony aroma. The third place went to ‘DIY Fresh Packs’ produced by Bakker Barendrecht in the Netherlands: products designed for consumers who want to use fresh ingredients to prepare a full meal for 4 people. The next Fruit Logistica will open its gates on 3 February 2016
