The advance payment of agricultural subsidies begins today

The Hungarian government always stands by the farmers and is aware of the outstanding role played by land- and animal-based subsidies in the operation of farms. For this reason, this year as well, we created the conditions for the advance and partial payment of increased direct subsidies related to the 2024 uniform applications, so on October 16, the Hungarian State Treasury will start the payments. According to the plans, the affected parties can receive a total of HUF 261 billion under these rights. In the first week, it is expected that more than 100,000 farmers will receive the advance payment related to the basic support. Ensuring the financial liquidity of agricultural producers is crucial due to the hectic climatic and market environment of recent years, he added. The minister explained that, within the advance payment period until November 30, 2024, payments will start from October for producers who have undergone the necessary inspection processes under the title of basic income support, redistributive support and production-related support related to dairy cow husbandry. From November, the Hungarian State Treasury is also preparing to make advance payments in connection with other production-related subsidies and subsidies for young agricultural producers.

In addition to the direct subsidies, advance payments related to the Agricultural Environmental Management and Ecological Management subsidies will also start from November, with a total value of HUF 60 billion, according to the plans

In this way, the state treasury can disburse a total of HUF 321 billion in subsidies to farmers by mid-December, underlined the head of the agricultural ministry. István Nagy highlighted that almost 160,000 producers submitted uniform applications for 2024 for around 5 million hectares. They had the opportunity to apply for funds or provide data for a total of 44 direct support and rural development titles.
