Máté Lóga: 2025 could be the year of taking off
The dynamic expansion of retail turnover shows that after the past three difficult years, 2025 could be a year of breathing space and getting going, and this could continue in 2026, the State Secretary for Financial Resources and Macroeconomic Analysis of the Ministry of National Economy stated at the iCon-intelligent economy economic policy conference in Budapest on Friday.
They primarily hope that the Russian-Ukrainian war will end, meaning there will be peace, and that the new German government will also act as an economic actor in the coming period, Máté Lóga said.
As a result of all this, economic expansion could shift up a notch in the second half of the year, the politician added.
Regarding inflation, he emphasized: they would like to avoid certain sectors seeing a business opportunity in the increase in real incomes and reacting to the increase in purchasing power by raising prices. Because if the “cannibalization” continues, the most drastic measures will be used – the Secretary of State warned.
He also called increasing the productivity and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises an important goal, because only through this can the sector’s players manage wage pressure. He also said that they consider it important to further develop tourism, one of the driving forces of the Hungarian economy. The expansion of tourism is due to the government’s conscious tourism strategy
– he stated.
Máté Lóga also mentioned that the increase in housing prices in the world’s major cities and the accompanying housing crisis are a global problem, which greatly hinders the operation of a city. He believed that one of the reasons for this phenomenon is that Airbnb has become an independent industry.
