Lidl arrives at the Hungarian watermelon
From Saturday, Lidl Hungary will receive seeded watermelons from exclusively Hungarian suppliers in its warehouses, with which the real melon season will start in stores. By giving preference to domestic melons, the aim of the store chain is again to give priority to Hungarian producers. In the 2019 season, Lidl Magyarország sold a total of almost 12,000 tons of Hungarian watermelons in Hungary and abroad.
Due to the hectic weather conditions, the domestic watermelon season starts two weeks later this year, in mid-July. Lidl is still one of the first to start selling Hungarian-grown fruits, and from July 11 the company will take over only Hungarian seed watermelons in its logistics centers.
