The Hungarian National Gallery and LG photo competition has closed.
The photo contest jointly announced by LG Hungary and the Hungarian National Gallery has ended with nearly 700 entries. The first-place entry was inspired by the painting titled Woman Carrying a Rose by Mihály Munkácsy. The winners received their prizes in a ceremony at the Hungarian National Gallery on July 2.
LG’s slogan Life’s Good and the LG ARTCOOL Gallery Special air conditioner concept, reminiscent of the painting, brought the company and the Hungarian National Gallery to life with a photo contest, which was the second joint artistic initiative of the parties. The photo contest titled Life is Beautiful! Reframe It! drew attention to the fact that everyday moments can be as beautiful and valuable as a work of art exhibited in a gallery. The task of the applicants was to show how the small moments of everyday life, which often slip our attention, can become picturesque – and they had to capture all of this while being inspired by a work of art from the collection of the Hungarian National Gallery.
The submitted applications were evaluated by a jury of art historians and museum professionals. The first place went to Gabriella Barok’s photo titled “Woman on a Trip”, which was inspired by Mihály Munkácsy’s painting “Woman Carrying a Rose”. The winner was able to return home with a high-value LG ARTCOOL Gallery Special air conditioner, the special feature of which is that it does not resemble a traditional air conditioner at all: due to its square design, wooden frame and freely interchangeable front panel, it looks exactly like a picture hung on the wall.
The second place went to Janka Mádl’s photo titled “Mother’s Day”, which was inspired by the work of art titled “Mary with the Baby Jesus”. The second place winner took home an LG DUALCOOL AI Air Premium Single Split air conditioner. The third best entry was Ilona Kiskarándy Nánásy’s photo titled The Green Bird, inspired by Imre Vinczellér’s painting The Blue Bird II. The third place winner can equip their home with an LG DUALCOOL Special Single Split air conditioner.
Given the special nature of the prizes, LG Electronics will provide the installation of the prizes to the winners through its nationwide, qualified partner network.
Further details about the winning images and the competition can be found on the website of the Hungarian National Gallery.
