Christmas gift packs much more popular than before
In November-December 2013 Hungarian consumers spent nearly HUF 4 billion on 2.5 million gift packs – in value 18 percent more and in volume 21 percent more than in the 2012 season. Deodorants and shower gels are still the two favourite choices when it comes to gift packs: sales of each exceeded HUF 1 billion in the two-month period; they were followed by hand creams and body lotions. In the 2012 season the average gift pack cost HUF 1,626 but in 2013 this sum lowered to HUF 1,585. Sales were highly concentrated, hypermarkets and drugstores realised 88 percent of value sales (from this hypermarkets were responsible for 54 percent and drugstores had 34 percent).
