Nielsen: Household chemicals, cosmetics market stagnates
The retail household chemicals and cosmetics market was worth about HUF 300 billion in the twelve months to April, unchanged in both volume and value terms, market research company Nielsen published today.
Nielsen also added that hypermarkets and chemists accounted for two-thirds of sales in value terms. The biggest increases, in value terms, among 20 product groups Nielsen tracks, were seen for toilet paper, paper tissues, moisturisers, face and eye cream, and paper towels. Sales of these products rose 3-7%. In volume terms, sales of toilet paper, air fresheners and face and eye cream rose 4-8%.
Sales of insect repellent jumped 45% in value terms to exceed HUF 5 billion as a wet spring and summer last year provided a good basis for mosquitoes and other insects. Sales of brand products accounted for 17% of the total, similarly to the previous year.
