Home renovation: a new opportunity with the SZÉP card
According to the government’s decision, from 2025, 50% of the amount available on the SZÉP card can be used for home renovation. This includes the following expenses:
Purchase of hardware, building materials, paint, glass,
Purchase of furniture and lighting equipment.
This measure can provide significant assistance to families in modernizing their homes and increasing their comfort.
New fringe benefit for young people
From 2025, employees under the age of 35 can receive up to 1.8 million forints of housing support per year as a fringe benefit. This new option can improve the chances of the younger generation in particular to create a home.
Digitalization and flexibility
In the future, the SZÉP card will not only be available in physical form, but will also be usable in a digital version on infocommunication devices. This step will make it easier to use the benefits received on the card, adapting to the modern needs of consumers.
Tourism and hospitality support
The SZÉP card has played a key role in boosting the domestic tourism and hospitality industry. According to the Ministry of Economy, funds topped up after March 20, 2024 can be used until September 20, 2025 without deduction of costs.
The 2025 changes aim to modernize and expand employee benefits, as well as support families, young people and the economy. The new active lifestyle pocket, the home renovation budget and the digital SZÉP card all serve to make the fringe benefits system even more aligned with today’s needs and challenges.
