Dog festival in Budapest’s Városliget with the support of SPAR
A dog-themed festival is organized for the second time in Budapest’s Városliget under the title DOGZ Festival and Conference. The aim of the gap-filling event, which is supported by SPAR Hungary, is to guide those interested in responsible dog keeping and breed selection with the participation of experts.
On September 7, 2024, Nagyrét, in the capital’s City Park, will be populated with four-legged friends: visitors to the DOGZ Festival and Conference can meet breed clubs and shelters on this day. Those interested can get to know the breed characteristics, the keeping conditions, and find out which dog breed is most ideal for their lifestyle. Visitors also have the opportunity to consult with veterinarians as part of the festival, and there will also be dog sports and other demonstrations. On the same day, at the filling-in DOGZ conference at the House of Hungarian Music, there will be presentations on the situation of urban dog ownership, conscious dog care, responsibility, the effects of owners’ mental problems on dogs, and even divisive professional issues. The keynote speaker of the conference is ethologist Prof. Dr. Vilmos Csányi.
“The DOGZ event, which affects both the entertainment and scientific fields, conveys a very important message: this is the issue of responsible dog ownership, which is an important social issue in Hungary today. Regrettably, many dogs in our country live in unworthy conditions, they do not receive care, and in many cases they do not receive adequate food. This is why SPAR Hungary considers it important to support initiatives that draw attention to this extremely complex matter.”
– emphasized Márk Maczelka, SPAR’s communications manager.
