KSH: the number of guest nights continued to increase
In September, the number of guests increased by 3.8 percent and the number of guest nights by 1.3 percent in commercial accommodations compared to a year earlier. The number of domestic guests decreased by 9.6 percent, and the number of guest nights decreased by 13.4 percent. The number of foreign guests increased by 32.0 percent, and the number of guest nights by 25.4 percent. The number of guest nights reached 2.218 million, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Monday.

The Budapest-Central-Danube region is the most popular destination
The number of domestic guests was 542 thousand, and the number of guest nights spent was 1.177 million. 69 percent of the nights were spent in hotels, where the number of guest nights was 12.6 percent less than a year earlier. The turnover in pensions and community accommodation decreased by 16.0 and 7.9 percent, respectively, compared to last September. In the two most popular tourist regions, Lake Balaton and the Budapest-Central-Danube region, the number of domestic guest nights decreased by 11.4 and 13.6 percent, respectively.
The 375,000 foreign guests who came to the accommodations spent a total of 1.041 million guest nights. 75 percent of guest nights were spent in hotels, where the number of guest nights increased by 26.4 percent compared to last September. The most popular tourist region was the Budapest-Central-Danube region, where 54 percent of guest nights by foreigners were registered.
The gross sales revenue of commercial accommodation rose by 23.5 percent to HUF 41.687 billion. Of this, accommodation fee income amounted to HUF 29.332 billion with a 30.9 percent increase, catering revenues rose by 14.4 percent to HUF 9.443 billion, while other revenues worth HUF 2.912 billion were 6.2 percent lower than last September.
