KSH: retail sales growth accelerated further
According to the raw data, retail sales grew 6.9 percent in July, while calendary effect adjusted by 6.4 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year, following the 4.3 percent and 5.2 percent growth in June – the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced on Wednesday.
The revival was mainly driven by a 4.5 percent increase in food and grocery retail sales after a 2.1 percent increase in the previous month. According to the KSH, the volume of sales in food-like mixed stores – which account for 75 percent of the food retail trade – increased by 5.0 percent, while sales in food, beverage and tobacco stores increased by 3.0 percent.
