KSH: transportation performance increased last year
The transportation performance measured in ton per km increased by 3.1 percent last year and exceeded 50 billion, but still remains 3 percent below the performance of 2007- the Hungary, in 2013 publication of the Central Statistics Office (KSH) shows.
Last year, two-thirds of freight transportation took place by road, 18 percent by rail, 11 percent pipeline, and the remaining 4 percent was water transport.
Road and rail transport performance in 2013, both increased by 4 percent. The road transportation – at the expense of other modes of transport – showed a large-scale expansion until the beginning of the crisis. Its share in 2007 was 66 percent and was 19 percent higher than in 2001. However, its ratio is unchanged since 2007. (MTI)
