KSH: in September, retail sales increased by 1.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, and decreased by 1.4 percent compared to the previous month
In September, the volume of retail trade increased by 1.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, according to both raw and calendar-adjusted data, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Thursday.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the volume of sales in food and food-type mixed stores increased by 1.5 percent, in non-food retail by 5.7 percent, and in fuel retail by 5.0 percent.
According to data adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, the volume of retail trade decreased by 1.4 percent compared to the previous month, which was also affected by the flood situation.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, in September, the sales volume of food-type mixed stores, which account for 76 percent of food retail sales, increased by 2.7 percent, adjusted for the calendar effect, while that of food, beverage, and tobacco specialty stores decreased by 2.3 percent.
The turnover volume of non-food retail increased by 5.7 percent overall. The volume of sales in textile, clothing and footwear stores increased by 11 percent, in drug, medical product, and perfume stores by 6.7 percent, in furniture and technical goods stores by 3.9 percent, in mixed industrial goods stores by 1.0 percent, in second-hand goods stores 0.2, and in book, computer technology, and other industrial goods stores it decreased by 1.7 percent – announced the KSH.
The volume of mail order and internet retail, covering a wide range of goods and accounting for 8.3 percent of the retail turnover, increased by 11 percent.
