KSH: crop and livestock performance increased last year
The volume of crop production increased by 0.9 percent and livestock production by 6.3 percent, compared to last year – according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
According to the KSH, although the harvested area has been decreasing since 2014, nearly 15 million tons of crops have been harvested from 2.4 million hectares last year.
Yields increased by 6.5 percent, mainly due to an increase in maize, of which 8 million tonnes were harvested, 18 percent more than in 2017, contributing 2.0 percentage points to the increase in total agricultural output. (MTI)
