KSH: National agricultural census begins

This year’s agricultural census of individual farms has begun, with more than 21,000 farms nationwide participating; data provision is required by government decree, and responding is mandatory – the Central Statistical Office (KSH) informed MTI in a statement.

It was highlighted: non-highlighted individual farmers can fill out the questionnaire online until November 23, and then they can answer the questions in person or by phone with the help of census takers until December 15. Highlighted individual farms that carry out significant agricultural activities can only fulfill their data provision obligation online until December 15.

According to the Central Statistical Office, those concerned received the information and access code required for completing the survey by e-mail or post before the survey.

The census contains questions on crop production, animal husbandry, agricultural labor, as well as services, investments and expenditures. The aim of the data collection is to provide up-to-date information to domestic and EU decision-makers and farmers, and also serves to fulfill Hungary’s EU data provision obligation – the statistical office explained. The Central Statistical Office uses the data exclusively for statistical purposes, does not pass it on to other bodies, and guarantees data security in accordance with the law. The office will send the aggregated results of the census by e-mail to those who requested it during the survey – the announcement reads.
