KSH: consumer prices fell 0.2 percent in June
In June, consumer prices were on average 0.2 percent lower than a year before. Compared with May consumer prices rose by an average of 0.2 percent – the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday.
The data meets the analysts' expectations.
Compared to the previous month, consumer prices were increaing for the fourth consecutive month in June. In the first half of this year, consumer prices rose by an average of 0.1 percent.
In June, the price of fuel significantly decreased by 10.4 percent, compared to the same period of the previous year. Foods were an average of 0.4 percent cheaper than the year before. Tobacco prices increased with the highest rate by 4.4 percent, while the price of alcoholic drinks decreased by 0.5 percent, due to the 1.3 percent price decline of beer. (MTI)
