KSH: retail sales increased in January
The retail sales volume in January of this year was 0.6 percent above the same period of the previous year; sales increase in food stores, as well as in the stores offering furniture and technical goods stores, however, declined at the the petrol stations – announced the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Monday.
According to the communication of the Central Statistical Office (KSH), 562 billion worth of goods were distributed in the national retail network, in the mail order and in the Internet retail trade in January this year.
The January sales of retail stores offering food and food related products were 1.1 percent higher in January, compared to the level of last January. The non-food retail sales volume rose by 2 percent.
The turnover increased dynamically, by 8.4 percent in the perfumery, textiles, clothing and footwear retail and a 8.1 percent growth occurred in stores offering industrial goods, and by 3.3 percent in the stores offering furniture and technical products. (MTI)
