KSH: the number of employed people was 4 million 624 thousand in December, the unemployment rate was 4.4 percent

In the October-December 2025 period, the average number of employed people aged 15-74 was 4 million 642 thousand, 46 thousand less than the value measured in the same period of the previous year. The number of employed men decreased by 24 thousand, to 2 million 457 thousand, while for women it decreased by 23 thousand, to 2 million 186 thousand.

4 million 457 thousand people worked in the domestic primary labor market, which was 58 thousand less than the level measured in the same period of the previous year. The number of public workers was 78 thousand, and those working abroad was 108 thousand.

Amid the simultaneous decrease in the population and the number of employed people, the employment rate among those aged 15-64 remained practically unchanged, at 74.8 percent. This value was 78.5 percent for men and 71.1 percent for women.

In the October-December 2025 period, the average number of unemployed people aged 15-74 was 213 thousand, and the unemployment rate was 4.4 percent.

For men, the number of unemployed people was 116 thousand, and for women, it was 97 thousand. The rate was 4.5 percent for men and 4.3 percent for women, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced.

The average duration of the job search took 12.7 months, 39.1 percent of the unemployed had been looking for a job for less than 3 months, while 36.2 percent had not found a job for at least a year.

The report also states that according to administrative data from the National Employment Service (https://nfsz.munka.hu/), the number of registered job seekers at the end of December 2025 compared to a year earlier It decreased by 2.2 percent to 216 thousand.
