KSH: The sales prices of the food industry have not changed essentially
In October 2023, industrial producer prices were on average 6.6 percent lower than a year earlier. Domestic sales prices rose by 0.4 percent, export sales fell by 9.9 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Thursday.
The big difference was primarily caused by the fact that domestic sales prices in the energy industry, which mainly produces for the domestic market and represents a large part of it, still exceeded the level of a year earlier, while the export sales prices were significantly lower than that, the office noted.
The strengthening of the forint against the euro over the course of a year also played a role in the development of industrial producer prices.
Compared to the previous month, both domestic sales prices and export sales prices decreased by 0.6 percent, so industrial producer prices also decreased by 0.6 percent overall.
In October 2023, compared to October 2022, domestic sales in the manufacturing industry, which accounted for 65 percent, decreased by 0.7 percent, while in the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam supply, air conditioning), which accounted for 30 percent, the increase was 0.4 percent. The sales prices of the food industry did not change essentially (+0.1 percent).
