KSH: Sales prices in the food industry were 5.1 percent lower than a year ago
In May 2024, industrial producer prices were on average 0.2 percent lower compared to a year earlier. Domestic sales prices decreased by 3.9 percent, export sales increased by 1.7 percent. Compared to the previous month, domestic sales prices decreased by 0.9 percent, export sales prices increased by 0.7 percent, so industrial producer prices were overall 0.2 percent higher, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced.
Within the average decrease of 3.9 percent in domestic sales prices, they rose by 0.8 percent in the manufacturing industry, which represented 60.0 percent, and fell by 13.0 percent in the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam supply, air conditioning), which accounted for 38.6 percent. The sales prices of the food industry were 5.1 percent lower.
Among the intended groups of sectors, domestic prices fell by 6.1 percent in the energy and further consumption sectors, rose by 5.8 percent in those producing capital goods, and decreased by 1.1 percent in those producing consumer goods.
Industrial export sales prices were 1.7 percent higher, within which they rose by 4.5 percent in the manufacturing industry, which represented 82.9 percent of the market, and fell by 15.9 percent in the energy industry, which accounted for 16.7 percent.
