KSH: food industry sales prices increased by 4.5 percent
In December 2024, industrial producer prices were 9.0 percent higher on average than a year earlier. Domestic sales prices were 4.0 percent higher and export sales prices were 11.5 percent higher than in December 2023. The price increase was primarily caused by the weakening of the forint against the euro, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday.

Domestic sales prices were 0.1 percent higher, export sales prices were 0.4 percent higher, so industrial producer prices overall were 0.3 percent higher than the previous month’s values.
According to the Central Statistical Office, in 2024, domestic sales prices decreased by 1.6 percent, while export sales prices increased by 2.4 percent, so industrial producer prices together exceeded 2023 by 1.0 percent.
Within the average 4.0 percent increase in domestic sales prices compared to December 2023, the manufacturing industry, which represents a weight of 60.0 percent, increased by 5.6 percent, the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam supply, air conditioning) with a weight of 38.6 percent, increased by 0.5 percent, and the food industry sales prices increased by 4.5 percent.
Among the groups of sectors by purpose, prices in the energy and secondary consumption sectors increased by 3.4 percent, in the capital goods manufacturers by 7.5 percent, and in the consumer goods manufacturers by 4.0 percent.
