KSH: Sales prices of the food industry decreased by 0.6 percent
In August 2024, industrial producer prices were on average 3.0 percent higher than a year earlier. Domestic sales prices increased by 1.2 percent and export sales by 4.0 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Monday.
Compared to the previous month, domestic sales prices increased by 0.2 percent, export sales prices by 1.8 percent, so industrial producer prices increased by 1.3 percent overall.
Within the average increase of 1.2 percent in domestic sales prices, the manufacturing industry, which represented 60.0 percent, was 2.7 percent higher, and the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam supply, air conditioning), which accounted for 38.6 percent, was 2.2 percent lower. The sales prices of the food industry decreased by 0.6 percent.
Among the intended groups of sectors, domestic prices rose by a combined 0.5 percent in energy and further consumption sectors, 4.8 percent in capital goods producers, and 1.2 percent in consumer goods producers.
Industrial export sales prices were 4.0 percent higher, within which the prices in the manufacturing industry, representing 82.9 percent of the weight, increased by 2.5 percent, and in the energy industry, which accounted for 16.7 percent, by 8.8 percent.
