KSH: The production of food, beverages and tobacco products increased by 6.6 percent in 2022
In 2022, compared to the previous year, industrial production expanded by 5.8 percent, following the 9.5 percent increase a year earlier. Within this, among the three branches of the national economy, the output of the manufacturing industry increased by 5.8 percent, that of the energy industry by 1.2 percent, and that of light mining by 9.0 percent compared to 2021.
At current prices in the manufacturing industry, a production value of around HUF 52 billion was produced in 2022. The volume of production exceeded the previous year in every month of the year. Production decreased in four of the thirteen sub-sectors of the manufacturing industry, while in the others the volume increased by between 0.7 and 36 percent, mostly in the production of electrical equipment. The output of the largest sub-sector, vehicle manufacturing, increased by 14.6 percent, while that of computer, electronic, and optical products increased by 9.0 percent, and that of food, beverages, and tobacco products by 6.6 percent.
Industrial exports were 8.0 percent higher than a year earlier (KSH measured an 8.9 percent increase in volume in 2021). 59 percent of total industrial sales and 71 percent of manufacturing sales came from foreign market sales. Manufacturing exports increased by 8.4 percent compared to the previous year. Within this, the volume of exports increased by 15.5 percent in vehicle production, which represents 30 percent of the weight. Exports of the second largest computer, electronic and optical products production, with a share of 14 percent, increased by 8.5 percent. The export of the production of electrical equipment increased the most, by 40 percent.
