KSH: in August, the number of employed people was 4,748,000, the unemployment rate was 4.2 percent
In August 2024, the average number of employed persons aged 15-74 increased by 39,000 compared to the same period of the previous year, to 4,748,000. The number of unemployed was 210,000, the unemployment rate was 4.2 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Friday.
In the three-month period June-August, the average number of employed persons among the 15-74-year-olds increased by 31,000 to 4,752,000. The number of employed men decreased slightly to 2,502,000, while that of women increased by 43,000 to 2,250,000.
4,586,000 people worked in the domestic primary labor market, 43,000 more than a year earlier. While the number of people working abroad did not change significantly, it was 108,000, while the number of public employees decreased by 10,000 to 58,000.
Among the 15-64-year-olds, the employment rate increased by 0.4 percentage points to 75.2 percent. According to the report, the rate for men decreased slightly to 78.9 percent, and for women it increased by 1.3 percentage points to 71.4 percent.
