KSH: in April, retail turnover increased by 3.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year
In April 2024, according to the raw data, the turnover volume of retail trade increased by 3.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, adjusted for the calendar effect, by 3.2 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Thursday.
Adjusted for calendar effects, the volume of sales in food and food-type mixed stores increased by 3.6 percent, in non-food retail by 4.3 percent, and in fuel retail by 2.0 percent.
Compared to the previous month, the volume of retail trade decreased by 0.9 percent, according to data adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects.
In April, the sales volume of food-type mixed stores, which account for 75 percent of food retail sales, increased by 4.4 percent, and that of food, beverage, and tobacco specialty stores by 1.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, adjusted for the calendar effect.
Within the overall increase of 4.3 percent in the volume of non-food retail sales, textile, clothing and footwear stores saw 7.7, second-hand goods stores 5.0, drug, medical product, and perfume stores 4.2, books, computer technology -, the volume of sales in other industrial goods stores increased by 1.1 percent, in mixed stores of industrial goods nature it did not change essentially, while in furniture and technical goods stores it decreased by 1.8 percent.
The volume of mail order and internet retail, which covers a wide range of goods and accounts for 8.6 percent of the retail turnover, increased by 7.9 percent.
