KSH: retail turnover increased by 4.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, and by 2.0 percent compared to the previous month
According to raw data, the volume of retail sales in March increased by 3.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, adjusted for calendar effects, by 4.2 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported on Tuesday.
Adjusted for calendar effects, the volume of sales in food and food-type mixed stores increased by 5.7 percent, in fuel retail by 3.3 percent, and in non-food retail by 0.6 percent. According to data adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, the volume of retail trade increased by 2.0 percent compared to the previous month.
In the first quarter of 2024, the volume of traffic exceeded the same period of the previous year by 2.2 percent – according to calendar-adjusted data.
In March, within the 5.7 percent increase in the volume of turnover in food and food-related retail sales, the sales volume of food-related mixed stores, which account for 77 percent of food retail sales, increased by 5.7 percent, and that of food, beverage, and tobacco specialty stores by 4.8 percent. rose.
